Victor Osimhen has inspired Napoli with his goals since his return from AFCON duty with Nigeria's Super Eagles.

Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has quickly rediscovered his lethal scoring form for Napoli since returning from Africa Cup of Nations duty with Nigeria.

Pulse Sports Nigeria reports that Osimhen has shown why he’s Africa’s best player for 2023 after leading the Super Eagles to a podium finish in the 34th AFCON.

Osimhen’s post-AFCON form

Osimhen endured a slow start at AFCON, netting just one goal as the Super Eagles reached the final before losing to hosts Ivory Coast.

But back playing for Napoli, the reigning African Player of the Year has been unstoppable in front of goal.

In just three games since coming back from Cote d'Ivoire, Osimhen has found the net five times and contributed one assist.

That red-hot form includes a stunning hat-trick in the Partenopei's 6-1 demolition of Sassuolo last week.

After a difficult start to the season that saw Serie A champions Napoli change manager before AFCON, Osimhen is making up for lost time.

The 25-year-old scored 26 goals last term as Napoli ended their 33-year wait for a Serie A title.

This season has proved more difficult, with Napoli down in ninth place under new boss Francesco Calzona, the second for the 2023/2024 season

But Osimhen's latest goalscoring flurry suggests he could single-handedly fire Napoli back into Champions League contention.

If the rejuvenated hitman can maintain this excellent form, his goals could prove the difference in Calzona turning Napoli's fortunes around.

Osimhen's AFCON exploits may have underwhelmed for some, but back doing what he does best, the goals are suddenly flowing once again.
