Harambee Stars enter camp for two international friendly matches scheduled to be played this month.

Kenya national football team Harambee Stars have huddled up in a dedicated residential camp in Nairobi to fine-tune their skills and strategies for an imminent double-header of international friendlies.

Engin Firat charges are set to lock horns with none other than Qatar, the distinguished hosts of the upcoming 2022 FIFA World Cup and South Sudan.

Among the early arrivals on Sunday morning were standout talents like Austin Odhiambo, Byrne Odhiambo, Patrick Matasi, David Ochieng, Abud Omar, Abdallah Hassan, Moses Shummah, Duke Abuya and Elvis Rupia – each a potent force in their own right.

Stars captain Michael Olunga is expected to link up with the team when it lands in Qatar, while players like Ina Otieno, who is making waves in Zambia, and Joseph Okumu in France, are set to join the ranks on Monday.

Brian Mandela, showcasing his talents in South Africa, Johnstone Omurwa in Portugal, Eric Ouma in Sweden, Amos Nondi in Armenia, Richard Odada in Denmark, and Teddy Akumu in Japan are the other foreign-based players expected to join the team.

Ayub Timbe Masika, currently making strides in China, Bradford City’s Clarke Oduor, and Danish-born defender Daniel Anyembe, a former captain of Denmark’s U-23 national team, promise to further enhance the team's dynamics.

Alfred Scriven, who exhibits his prowess on Norwegian soil playing for IL Hodd, is poised to make his mark on the field as well.

These friendlies hold immense significance for the Stars, serving as pivotal stepping stones in their journey towards competitive FIFA and CAF assignments.

The fixture against Qatar on September 7, 2023, is an opportunity for the team to challenge themselves against the 2022 World Cup hosts on their home turf.

The energy will then shift to Nairobi, where Harambee Stars will welcome South Sudan on September 12, 2023, in a showdown that promises to ignite the passions of local fans.

The upcoming matches are not merely about exhibition as they mark a strategic phase for the Kenyan team, designed to hone their skills and strategies.

The Stars have their sights firmly set on the horizon, with the CHAN Qualifiers on the horizon, scheduled for September and October.

Beyond that, they have their sights locked onto the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers, drawn in Group F against Seychelles, Burundi, Gambia, Gabon, and Côte d’Ivoire.
