Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has urged his players to focus their minds on the task at hand in Saturday's FA Cup semi-final with Sheffield United.

Manchester City travel to Wembley to face Sheffield United in the semi-final of the FA Cup. The fixture comes right in the middle of a grueling run of games for the Etihad side.

Exhausted Man City must keep fighting

Crucially, with the title race still very open, City welcome Arsenal to the Etihad just four days later in what is a must-win game.

Speaking in his press conference on Friday, Guardiola revealed a few of the players were tired and insisted he wouldn’t put his side through a strenuous training session ahead of the game.

“Today we don’t do anything,” he said.

“We're going to go out, and take a breather but of course, we can’t train. I’m not the type of manager to say we have to train.

“I prefer to keep the energy as much as possible for the game. Controlling the fatigue is in the mind, if you have positive thoughts you’re not tired.”

Big picture

Manchester City have not won the competition since they did so in 2019 and it will be intriguing to see how many changes are made to the team with the showdown against Arsenal in mind.
