Unity Cup: Eric Chelle explains why he left out Super Eagles top stars
Chelle announced nine home-based players for Unity Cup.
In a statement posted on their official Facebook account, the Super Eagles welcomed Agu to the squad after the DFB clarified that he has never played for Germany in any official matches at senior or junior competitive levels.
Agu’s only appearances for Germany were in two friendly matches for the U21 team in 2019, which does not cap-tie him to Germany.

Head Coach Eric Chelle included Agu in the 25-man squad for the Unity Cup, a four-nation tournament featuring Nigeria, Ghana, Jamaica, and Trinidad and Tobago, set to take place at the Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford, West London.

The Werder Bremen’s Agu was initially listed as available for training pending official clearance but now is fully eligible to compete.
