Ghana star Partey available for UCL clash before court appearance for sexual assault charges
Thomas Partey faces five counts of rape against two women and one count of sexual assault against a third, with a court appearance scheduled for Wednesday morning at Southwark Crown Court.
Remarkably, this comes shortly after a potential Champions League match against Tottenham Hotspur in north London, set to kick off at 8pm on Tuesday.
Villarreal manager Marcelino has not confirmed Partey's involvement but indicated it’s a possibility, stating, “I am totally convinced that he is mentally prepared and technically prepared to play. He will certainly be ready.
We are very happy Thomas is with us for his football capacity, football ability, and his presence as a human.”
Marcelino praised Partey's experience, saying, “He is a great player with a lot of experience. He has played for a lot of top clubs.
"We know he has a great level. I think he will get back to a top level. I am delighted he is with us in the team.”

Partey's lawyer, Jenny Wiltshire, has affirmed, “He denies all the charges against him” and is eager “to finally clear his name.”
The allegations date back to 2021-2022 during his Arsenal tenure. Since joining Villarreal, Partey has played four La Liga games and will be eager to lead his new side to victory over former rivals Tottenham.
