Nigeria’s Golden Eaglets suffered a 0-2 loss to rivals the Black Starlets of Ghana in the semifinal of the WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship.

The match pitted two West African footballing nations against each other for an intense Jollof Derby rivalry.

Nigeria entered the semifinal having progressed from Group B, which included Burkina Faso and Benin Republic.

The Golden Eaglets showcased their potential with a convincing 4-1 victory over Benin Republic, followed by a goalless draw against Burkina Faso, accumulating four points to secure their spot in the knockout stage.

The Black Starlets took control early in the match, with Michael Awuli putting them in front with a fine finish in the 21st minute, capitalizing on a swift counterattack.

The lead was doubled just ten minutes later when Robinho Yao Gavi found the net in the 31st minute, further solidifying Ghana’s dominance.

The second half saw no additional goals, as Ghana’s defense held firm under pressure, ensuring a clean sheet and the victory.

This win means the BlackStarlets defeat Nigeria 2-0 in the semi-final to advance to the final of the WAFU Zone B U-17 Championship.
