Galatasaray vs Liverpool: Why slot left Federico Chiesa out of Champions League squad
Federico Chiesa’s omission from Liverpool’s squad to face Galatasaray in the Champions League is down to manager Arne Slot’s selection preference rather than injury or registration issues.
The Italian forward has been one of Liverpool’s most effective players this season, directly contributing to each of the Reds’ last three goals. Despite playing just 153 minutes so far, only Mohamed Salah and Hugo Ekitiké have been involved in more goals for the club this term.

According to The Athletic, Chiesa is fully fit, but Slot has instead opted for other attacking options. Cody Gakpo and youngster Rio Ngumoha both travel as alternatives on the left flank, Salah remains the only right-sided forward, while Ekitiké and record signing Alexander Isak bolster the central striking options.
Chiesa, who endured an injury-hit debut season at Anfield, has quickly become a fan favourite with his sharp contributions off the bench.
However, his latest omission raises fresh questions about how regularly Slot intends to use the 26-year-old in a crowded Liverpool attack.
