Galatasaray pick date for Osimhen unveiling after agreeing ₦132 billion deal
Victor Osimhen is set to be unveiled by Galatasaray on Saturday, August 2, after the Turkish champions completed a sensational €75 million deal to sign the Nigerian striker from Napoli.
The club’s vice president, Abdullah Kavukcu, is expected to finalise the move this week before flying back to Istanbul with the Super Eagles star.
Deal finalised as Osimhen lands in Istanbul
Galatasaray supporters are bracing for one of the most anticipated arrivals in the club’s recent history.
According to Turkish outlet Fanatik, vice president Abdullah Kavukcu is travelling to Italy to wrap up final paperwork before returning with Osimhen.
The deal, worth a total of €75 million(₦132 billion), includes €40 million upfront to Napoli, with the remaining €35 million to be cleared by the end of 2026.
Osimhen is expected to pocket an annual salary of €16 million. The club has pencilled in his grand unveiling for their home clash against Lazio.
The 26-year-old is coming off a prolific campaign, netting 37 goals and providing eight assists in 41 appearances for Napoli before his move.
From Lagos struggles to global stardom
Speaking recently on a Nigerian YouTube channel, Osimhen opened up about his tough upbringing in Lagos.
He recalled growing up in a single room with seven siblings and struggling to find opportunities after his neighbourhood field was shut.
He briefly abandoned football to carry water and take on odd jobs, but his dream never wavered. “Nothing here is handed to you on a silver platter,” he said. Despite his fame, Osimhen admitted he sometimes longs for privacy and normalcy.
“Fame is boring,” he added, revealing he was forced to miss his daughter’s first outing due to public attention.
