Ovella has been a free agent since being released by Richards Bay at the end of last season.

Harambee Stars Head Coach Engin Firat has unveiled his provisional squad of 23 players for the highly-anticipated friendly match against Russia.

Scheduled to take place on October 16th in Turkey, this clash almost fell prey to unpredictable forces after the capital, Ankara, was attacked by terrorists last weekend.

Nevertheless, the national team is now poised for a showdown that promises excitement and action aplenty. The squad, masterfully curated by Turkish-gaffer, boasts a formidable blend of both homegrown talents and internationally-seasoned players.

Amidst the roster, one name stands out prominently - Ovella Ochieng. The mercurial midfielder, who has been clubless since parting ways with the South African side Richards Bay, returns to the national fold after several years in the cold.

England-based sensation Vincent Harper, plying his trade for Exeter City, and Gor Mahia's rising star, Rooney Onyango, have received their maiden call-up to don the national jersey.

Returning to the Harambee Stars lineup are also Tusker's dependable custodian Brian Bwire and AFC Leopards' versatile player Cliffton Miheso. However, there are notable omissions.

Danish-based defender Daniel Anyembe and Gor Mahia's attacking sensation Benson Omala wont be gracing the pitch in the forthcoming encounter.

Leading the charge for the Harambee Stars will be the charismatic Captain Michael Olunga, who has consistently demonstrated his goal-scoring prowess.

He is joined by a stellar cast of foreign-based talents, including the likes of Masud Juma, Joseph Okumu, Brian Mandela, Johnstone Omurwa, Eric Ouma, Amos Nondi, Richard Odada, and Teddy Akumu.

Provisional squad:
