Barcelona boss Hansi Flick analysed his side's victory against Frankfurt in the Champions League.
Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick faulted Raphinha's positioning for their struggles in the first-half during their 2–1 victory against Eintracht Frankfurt in the Champions League and credited Rashford's for their improvement in the second-half.
What happened
Barcelona avoided a defeat in the Europa League campaign from two seasons ago, beating Eintracht Frankfurt at the Camp Nou to advance in the Champions League standings.
However, it was not a straightforward victory, as they went into halftime a goal behind after conceding in the 21st minute to Ansgar Knauff’s strike.
Barcelona struggled to break down the Germans in the first half but found more inroads in the second 45’, with a quick-fire brace from Jules Kounde helping them secure victory.
What Hansi Flick said
Marcus Rashford introduction at half-time inspired Barcelona’s comeback. His incredible cross delivered the first goal, and his explosiveness added energy to the Barcelona attack.
Speaking after the game, Flick explained that Raphinha drifting into central areas affected them in the first half, and Rashford’s wide positioning brought the needed improvement.
"I wasn't surprised by Eintracht's approach," Flick said. "I told my players to forget the past game [Frankfurt's 6-0 loss in Leipzig] because they are a good team.
"In the first half Raphinha was everywhere and maybe that wasn't the best, but his attitude is good. In the second half, we tweaked some things and Marcus was important to give width and stretch the lines.”
