Feyenoord add insult to injury with another goal to complete Ajax humiliation

Dutch champions Feyenoord have completed their mission against bitter rivals Ajax in the Eredivisie Klassieker.

Eredivisie champions, Feyenoord have completed their mission against bitter rivals, Ajax Amsterdam, after a 4-0 win in the rescheduled clash at the Johan Cruyff Arena. 

Feyenoord and Ajax finished their abandoned game from the weekend, with the champions taking all three points in a match played behind closed doors on Wednesday. 

Ajax vs Feyenoord: What happened 

The defending champions looked too good for their arch-rivals in the Klassieker and took a comfortable 3-0 lead. 

A brace from Santiago Tomas Gimenez, who assisted Igor Paixao for the third goal, gave the champions a comfortable lead at the break.

However, things took a turn for the worse when Ajax fans disrupted the match with flares and fireworks hurled on the pitch in the 56th minute of the game.

The game was halted before it was eventually suspended and abandoned with both sets of players led off the pitch by the officials.

However, the game was later rescheduled for Wednesday and kicked off at the point where it was abandoned. 

Three minutes after the restart, Feyenoord made it 4-0 with Gimenez completing his hat-trick to help the champions complete their victory.

Feyenoord’s win sees them move up the table to third on 14 points, just one behind leaders, PSV, while Ajax suffered their second defeat in five matches. 

Ajax have only won just one of five matches this season, with the latest defeat leaving them 14th on the Eredivisie standings.
