Johan Cruyff Arena witnessed a classic between Ajax and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang-led Olympique Marseille in the UEFA Europa League, UEL.

Former Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was one of the stars as Ajax Amsterdam and Olympique Marseille delivered a six-goal thriller in the UEFA Europa League, UEL.

Aubameyang moved to second in the UEL top scorers chart on the occasion of his 50th appearance after leading Marseille to a thrilling 3-3 away to Ajax on Thursday night.

With Marseille looking down and out as they look to continue their struggles this season, the Gabon legend rolled back the years to inspire them from the deep.

The 34-year-old netted a stunning brace as Marseille completed a remarkable fightback to share the spoils at the Arena.

Aubamenyang’s goals took him to 26 goals in the Europa League, taking him to second place in the all-time top scorers list in the competition.

Only Colombian superstar Radamel Falcao now leads the UEL list with 30 goals.

The performance by the Gabonese forward was a blast from that past as he continues to revive his career following a difficult time in London with Arsenal and Chelsea.

However, the former European champions started slow after goals from Carlos Borges and Steven Berghuis fired Ajax 2-0 ahead in the first 20 minutes.

The visitors responded brilliantly to going two goals down as Jonathan Clauss pulled one back three minutes later before Aubameyang netted his first of the night to draw Marseille level at the break.

Kenneth Taylor restored Ajax’s lead early on in the second half, but Aubameyang will deny them the win with a sensational equaliser 12 minutes from time.
