Enzo Fernandez is certain that Chelsea will perform at their highest level again next season under the direction of Mauricio Pochettino.

Graham Potter was fired as manager after only seven months of a five-year contract, and Chelsea lost 16 league games while also being eliminated from all cup competitions.

Chelsea stumbled to a disappointing 12th-place finish and failed to qualify for European football next season after spending £600 million on transfers.

The Argentine became the Blues' highest transfer of £107 million on deadline day but was unable to help his team throughout the second half of the season.

However, he has backed his new manager Mauricio Pochettino to change the fortunes of the club and take them back to their best.

The World Cup winner has said that he believes that there will be a change in performance this new season with the new manager Pochettino.

In a post on his Instagram, as reported by Daily Mail, Fernandez said, “Already enjoying the holidays with my family I can make a brief review of this wonderful year. First of all the family is getting bigger!

“I lived through brilliant moments in just one year. Very grateful to play for Benfica and I take the opportunity to congratulate all the Benfiquistas for the title!!

“Then it was time to touch the skies with the hands having the opportunity to play in a World Cup for my country Argentina and a childhood dream became true by winning this such desired title.

“I still had half a year and there was an opportunity to reach one more dream, to play the Premier League and fight for Chelsea! Happy and more than happy with everything we have experienced this year.

“We are moving forward with the national team. We are moving forward with Chelsea that although the first semester was not as we all wanted, we know that this is a serious project and with people who are looking for the best for the club and this year we will show it!!.”

Chelsea looking to rebuild

Chelsea are currently rebuilding their squad ahead of next season and have started offloading some of their unwanted players.

N'golo Kante ended his time in the Premier League by deciding to make a transfer move to Saudi Arabia and the wealth it offers, while Hakim Ziyech did the same.

Mateo Kovacic is also close to signing with Premier League champion Manchester City before his scheduled medical, while Edouard Mendy is expected to travel to the Middle East.

Mason Mount, who came out of the academy, is also the subject of heated negotiations between Manchester United and Chelsea due to his refusal to sign a contract extension.

As it stands, Chelsea are expected to sell more than six of their players this summer and bring in fresh legs ahead of the new campaign.
