Chelsea legend Didier Drogba has asked Blues flop Romelu Lukaku to contact him as Chelsea's exit plan draws near.

The Belgian actually spent the previous season on loan with Inter at the San Siro and is rumoured to desire to stay there permanently.

During his second stint at Stamford Bridge, Lukaku has notably underperformed, failing to live up to the club-record £98 million Chelsea paid Inter Milan for him in 2021.

There is speculation about a possible exit from Stamford Bridge this summer for the Belgium international and former Chelsea striker Didier Drogba has asked him to give him a call.

Drogba comment on Lukaku’s Instagram post

While on vacation, the current Chelsea forward uploaded a photo to Instagram to show off his time off.

Nonetheless, Drogba appears to be in favour of Lukaku remaining in West London, as reported by the Mirror, he wrote "Hey boy, Romelu Lukaku please call me!"

Under new Blues manager Mauricio Pochettino, who has previously been questioned about his plans for the fleeing striker, Lukaku may yet have a path to return to the first-team fold.

Lukaku has publicly said that he idolised Drogba during his first stint at Stamford Bridge, and the two have always had a tight friendship.

Inter Milan struggling to meet Chelsea demand

Due to their precarious financial situation, the Serie A giants are unlikely to agree to Chelsea's asking price for Lukaku.

The rumour mill has therefore gone into overdrive with theories about where he might actually wind up next season.

Several Saudi Pro League teams are rumoured to be monitoring the situation, and although Lukaku is reportedly open to the idea of moving to the Middle East, it is not his top preference.

As it stands, Chelsea might not be in need of Lukaku as they welcome new signing Nicolas Jackson who was signed from Villarreal for £32 million.
