Mgbechi Anderline and Chinaza Agoh emerged as the best goalkeeper and most valuable player of NWFL.

Delta Queens stars, Mgbechi Anderline and Chinaza Agoh delighted after winning invidual awards at the just conclded 2022/2023 Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership.

Pulse Sports reported that Delta Queens won the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Premiership title for the first time in 11 years.

Delta Queens defeated the defending champions at the final of the NWFL premiership Super Six final at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.

Mgbechi reacts after winning best goalkeeper

Mgbechi was instrumental in helping the Asaba-based team win its first league championship since 2011.

She said, “I want to thank my God and teammates because it wasn’t an easy job.

“For this tournament, I made up my mind that in any match that I was going to play, I pray for it to be successful without conceding any goal. I played before being converted into a goalkeeper. Thanks to our Team Manager who asked me to switch to.”

A dream come true for Agoh

Agoh won the Most Valuable Player of the season prize said that she worked hard to emerge best player of the season.

She said, “I worked hard because I know what is inside of me. I always pray to God as I don’t have any other God and pray hard to get better because I believe in myself.”

At the WAFU-B Zonal Qualifiers later this year, the players will be hoping to assist Delta Queens in advancing to the 2023 CAF Women's Champions League.
