Since joining City in 2015, De Bruyne has been instrumental in their success, winning 16 major trophies, including six Premier League titles. Rooney acknowledges similarities between De Bruyne and Gerrard but notes that De Bruyne stands out in terms of offensive output.

"Very similar, and in my opinion, just a little bit ahead in terms of attacking points to Stevie," Rooney said on The Overlap.
"Similar traits to what Stevie is. He was more of an all-around player, but I think in that attacking period, De Bruyne was incredible."
Rooney also touched on the challenges City might face in retaining De Bruyne due to Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations. "City got to make a decision, and they have probably at the right time. Now, with FFP, you can't keep a player at the club for what he's done.
"You obviously have to go and replace him. But in terms of a player over the last, you know, 10 years, he's been there. It's incredible."
Meanwhile, De Bruyne has been linked with a move to several clubs, including Inter Miami, Aston Villa and teams in the middle east.
