Cristiano Ronaldo extends gap over Messi as he sets two new records after scoring against Slovakia

Cristiano Ronaldo has set two new records and has extended his gap over his rival Lionel Messi during Portugal's win over Slovakia.

Portugal continued their good form with a 3-2 win over second-place team Slovakia in Group J in the Euro 2024 qualifiers. 

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner was in action for Portugal against Slovakia in which he scored two goals to give his team the victory.

Ronaldo, who has always had Messi as his rival at the top level, extended his lead over the Argentine and set two new records.

Ronaldo’s new records 

Cristiano Ronaldo took another step in setting two new records for himself after hitting the back of the net twice against Slovakia.

The Portuguese has now scored 125 international goals, extending his lead over his rival Lionel Messi who has 104 international goals.

Ronaldo holds the world record for international goals scored by a single player since making his debut in 2003.

The five times Ballon d’Or winner also set another record by scoring the highest number of goals by a single player since turning 30 years old

According to Romano Fabrizio on X, “Cristiano Ronaldo has now scored 73 international goals after turning 30 years old.

“More than anyone has ever scored at any age for Germany, France, Italy, England, Spain, Netherlands, Sweden, Croatia, Denmark, Uruguay, Colombia, Chile, Mexico, USA, Egypt, Ghana and 176 more countries, stat reported by @will_jeanes.”

Ronaldo continues to show he is the greatest player of all time as he breaks two new international goals records leaving Lionel Messi behind.
