With 10 goals and four assists in the Women's Super League, Sam Kerr has been named the FWA Women's Footballer of the Year.

Chelsea and Australia women's national team superstar Samantha Kerr has been awarded the Women's Super League Player of the Year by the Football Writers Association (FWA).

The 29-year-old's brilliant season is evident in Chelsea's position on the table. Although they are currently second, they have a game in hand on leaders Manchester United, who are only one point adrift, meaning they are on course for another WSL title.

The FWA, along with the announcement of Haaland as the men's player of the year, awarded Kerr the best women's footballer in the country.

The award rewards are seasons in which she has scored 10 league goals, and notched four assists, keeping Emma Hayes' side at the business end of the table.

The Australian was also the recipient of the award last season, meaning she has won it in consecutive seasons, earning congratulations from Erling, who picked up his first.

Haaland wins FWA Men’s Player of the Year

As reported earlier, Erling Haaland scored 51 goals in 47 games for Manchester City this season and has been the overwhelming favourite to sweep all the individual awards up for grabs.

First on the list, though, is the Football Writers' Association award, and the Norwegian now bags what will surely be the first of many in a Manchester City shirt.

Haaland received 82 per cent of the FWA vote, ahead of Arsenal duo Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard.
