The Blues' super-rich business-tycoon owner, Todd Boehly, has revealed that he feels responsible for Chelsea's poor season after making a costly error with his managerial choices

Chelsea owner Todd Boehly has admitted that he made a mistake by sacking former Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel and hiring Graham Potter, who has also been shown the Stamford Bridge exit.

Tuchel was fired after Chelsea’s loss to Dinamo Zagreb in the UEFA Champions League, with the Blues also 10th on the Premier League table after six-game weeks.

The decision appeared to be right at the time, even if a bit rushed, as Chelsea appeared to struggle at the start of the season.

However, their campaign only got worse after Potter was installed in Tuchel’s place, with the Blues exiting the UEFA Champions League and other domestic cup competitions, while dropping to 11th before the ex-Brighton manager was also let go in March.

Reports from the Daily Mail say that Boehly accepted blame for the way Chelsea’s season has turned out as a result of the decision to sack Tuchel so early in the season and replace him with Potter.

According to the report, Boehly now believes that the right thing to do in that scenario would have been to allow Tuchel to see out the remainder of the season and give any new manager enough time for a proper transition.

Since his departure from Chelsea, Tuchel, who always believed he was wronged, has joined German giants Bayern Munich and could be crowned Bundesliga champion in a few weeks after taking over from Julian Nagelsmann in March this year as well.

The 49-year-old German manager could win the third league title of his career with Bayern Munich and the first in Germany despite only being in charge of the team for three months of the campaign.
