Inter are keen on rebuilding their squad after finishing their season trophyless and have reportedly identified Manchester United's Marcus as an ideal signing.

The 27-year-old spent the second half of the season on loan at Aston Villa, and while he shone at the club, the Villans' failure to secure Champions League football for the upcoming season meant they could no longer afford his high wages.

Rashford is in search of a new club, as a return to Manchester United is not on the cards after falling out with Ruben Amorim. He has been linked with a move to Barcelona, and while the Blaugrana stalled, Inter emerged as a candidate.

Inter’s Rashford plan

Simone Inzaghi’s side got plaudits for most of the season, as they were on course to win a treble. However, their season ended abysmally, with only one fan welcoming them home after a disastrous Champions League final.

They were knocked out of the Coppa Italia by neighbours Milan, who also beat them in the Supercoppa Italiana. They were edged by Napoli in the Scudetto race, and the most devastating of all was a 5-0 drubbing at the hands of PSG in the Champions League final.

With the possibility of losing their coach to Al Hilal hanging over their heads, the Nerazzurri are working hard to maintain their status and are already looking to strengthen their squad this transfer window.

Hence, they have identified Rashford, who Manchester United have slapped a €40 million price tag on. The England international is reportedly keen on joining Barcelona; however, the Catalans are hoping to negotiate a lesser transfer fee with the Red Devils

According to the Sun, Inter, on the other hand, are also hoping to avoid paying €40 million for the English star this summer and are said to be proposing a loan move with an option to buy.
