Brazilian legend Casemiro will leave Manchester United at the end of the season
Manchester United are preparing to bid farewell to one of their most decorated modern signings, with Casemiro set to leave the club this summer.
The Brazilian’s departure will mark the end of a trophy-laden spell at Old Trafford after his move from Real Madrid.
Trophy-laden spell and key moments at Old Trafford
Casemiro will leave Manchester United upon the expiry of his contract, bringing to a close a four-year stay that saw him become a key figure in midfield.
Since arriving in August 2022, the legendary enforcer has made 146 appearances and scored 21 goals, quickly earning a reputation for his leadership, intensity and knack for delivering in big moments.
His impact was felt almost immediately. Casemiro played a major role in United’s 2023 Carabao Cup triumph, producing a colossal performance against Newcastle United and scoring a crucial header in the final.
He added another piece of silverware to his collection in 2024, helping the Red Devils lift the Emirates FA Cup.
A serial winner throughout his career, the Brazil captain brought a winning mentality that resonated with fans and teammates alike, cementing his status as a fan favourite during a period of rebuilding at the club.
Emotional farewell and message to supporters
Supporters will have the chance to honour Casemiro’s contributions at the final home game of the season against Nottingham Forest, where tributes are expected for one of the club’s most influential recent signings. The 33-year-old has already expressed how deeply his time in Manchester has meant to him.
Casemiro said: “I will carry Manchester United with me throughout my entire life. From the first day that I walked out at this beautiful stadium, I felt the passion of Old Trafford and the love that I now share with our supporters for this special club.”
He added: “It is not time to say goodbye; there are many more memories to create during the next four months. We still have a lot to fight for together; my complete focus will, as always, remain on giving my everything to help our club to succeed.”
With Manchester United set to say goodbye to Casemiro, the Red Devils are reportedly eyeing up Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi as his replacement.
