Super Eagles star Calvin Bassey joins Fulham from Ajax on a contract until 2027.

Super Eagles of Nigeria defender Calvin Bassey has sealed a move to Premier League giants Fulham.

Subject to international clearance, Fulham announced the signing of Calvin Bassey from Ajax for an undisclosed sum on Friday, July 28, 2023.

The 23-year-old defender has agreed to a deal that will keep him with the team through the summer of 2027, although Fulham has an option to extend for an additional 12 months.

Speaking to the Fulham website on tour in the United States of America, Bassey explained his decision to join the team.

He said, “I know how big of a club Fulham is.

"They always have quality players, they’re playing in the Premier League, the best league in the world, so I didn’t have to think much about it.

“It’s a London club as well, so it’s always a plus to go home! I’m happy it’s all done now and I can just focus on the football and help the team build on last season, when they did amazing.”

Calvin Bassey's journey to Fulham

Italian-born Bassey spent his early years in London before playing starting his youth career at Leicester City'.

Bassey, a Nigerian who currently has 10 caps to his name, made his Super Eagles debut last year in a World Cup qualifier.

He spent a very successful two years in Glasgow following a transfer to Rangers in the summer of 2020.

As a result of Bassey's impressive displays in the Europe League Ajax agreed to pay Rangers a club-record €23 million to sign him.

Bassey, a Nigerian who currently has 10 caps to his name, made his Super Eagles debut last year in a World Cup qualifier.
