The Super Falcons of Nigeria have a new rising star who has an eye for goals. Watch out for Bolaji Olamide.
Fresh from her exploits at the just concluded 24/25 Nigeria Women’s Football League (NWFL) season, Remo Stars Ladies striker Bolaji Olamide is receiving the love that her massive achievement deserves.
The Nigeria international had a historic campaign, scoring 15 goals in 19 matches, including finding the back of the net consecutively in the first seven games of the NWFL season.
Her debut for the Super Falcons came in October, 2024, when she donned the green and white jersey of Nigeria in an international friendly against the Fennecs of Algeria.
That impressive feat earned her the honour of being the first, and only Remo Stars Ladies player to play for the senior women’s national team till date.
Not only that, Super Falcons legend Desire Oparanozie endorsed Bolaji Olamide as the chosen one to replace her in the Nigerian Women’s national team.

2024 WAFCON: Only one Nigerian referee makes CAF list of 46 match officials
CAF only selected one Nigerian referee for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations
During an exclusive interview with Pulse Sports Nigeria, Bolaji Olamide told Asukwo Oduo that her achievement is due to hardwork and the immense support she has received from her club (coach, chairman, teammates and members of the backroom staff).
How does it feel to be chosen by Desire Oparanozie as her replacement in the national team?
Well, this is actually not the first time I’m meeting her. I met her earlier when we went to play against Algeria in a friendly game last year. Then she saw me and was like I’m sure you’re my replacement. A lot of people have been saying that I’m another replacement for legend Oparanozie. I feel it’s a great privilege for me, it’s an honour to be chosen by a legend like her. I feel so excited like I have a lot to deliver which I know in me I have a lot to offer to Nigeria. I’m up to the task and I’m also ready for the assignment
You scored 15 goals for Remo Stars ladies and you were invited for the Super Falcons game against Cameroon where you came on as a substitute. What was the experience like playing against Cameroon in Abeokuta?
I played against Cameroon when I was in Flamingoes (U-17). Playing against them is another privilege, representing my country. Coming in from the bench to come and show what I’m made for. Although I didn’t get too many minutes, it’s an honour to be in the team. I have so much to offer.
The 24/25 season was an honour, scoring in all games, especially in the first round. It’s about creating a record in the NWFL as a whole. It’s due to hardwork, discipline, dedication and the encouragement from my coach Wemimo Matthew. She has been there for me and my teammates and it’s not about myself, it’s about the collective efforts of my teammates. It’s not only about Bolaji, it’s about my team. Even from chairman Honourable Kunle Soname, he has been so wonderful to me and my colleagues and the team as a whole. So much support from the backroom staff. So, it’s not about Bolaji, it’s about all of us at Remo Stars Ladies.

Nigeria 2-0 Cameroon: Rinsola Babajide celebrates Dad watching her in Super Falcons win
See what Rinsola Babajide said about her dad after he came to Abeokuta to watch the Super Falcons of Nigeria 2-0 win against Cameroon.
Looking at the upcoming WAFCON coming up in July, would you like to be a part of that team to represent Nigeria?
To be part of that team, will be a great honour. I’ll be so grateful to God if I’m being called upon in that upcoming list. I won’t just be going there to eat or watch, I’m going there to prove myse;f why I’m currently the highest goalscorer in the NWFL. That’s a lot of work but with the likes of Rasheedat Ajibade and the other more experienced players in the squad, I’m sure fitting in would not be an issue. I’ll be so excited if I make the list and I’ll give my all.
I know you play for Remo Stars Ladies. Are there offers from Europe already or are you working towards it because a player of your talent most times should be playing in Europe.
Well, I’m leaving everything to God. There are so many offers (good and bad) just like the way life is – life is about good and bad but it’s just a step at a time. I don’t want to rush into anything. I’m seeing different offers but I’m hoping for the best.
Still only 21, Bolaji Olamide has age on her side and it would be interesting to see her bring her ball control and goalscoring prowess to the Super Falcons as they prepare to win a record 10th African Women Cup of Nations in Morocco.
