Liverpool head coach Arne Slot discussed their expectations for nect season.

Liverpool coach Arne Slot expects the club to strengthen the squad over the summer to help consolidate the successes they enjoyed this season.

The former Feyenoord coach led Liverpool to their 20th Premier League title, somewhat ahead of schedule, as this was expected to be a transition year following the exit of Jurgen Klopp.

The standards have been set now, and the bar raised considerably higher with their league win this season. The conversation about consolidation has begun, as Slot detailed what he expects.

What Slot said

"I don't know if it's going to be a lot [of transfers] but we know the club, Richard [Hughes], the ownership; we are all aligned on what we are trying to achieve. It is already very, very positive that we kept Mo and Virgil and a few others that we are trying to sign look positive.

"We are very happy with the squad that we have. This club has always shown that if they can strengthen, that's what we do. Big summer or not, it is already big because we won the league.”

He said that they would maintain the system that earned them success this season but added they want to improve on it and become even more well-oiled.

"It would be weird if I played completely differently because we have just won the league, but we have to adapt. You always have to try to become better. We have to improve with these players and if there is a possibility to strengthen with the other players too. Next season the competition will be better as well."

Meanwhile, Liverpool have already begun making major moves in the transfer window. Pulse Sports reported that they are close to completing a British-record deal for Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz and have initiated contacts for Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez.
