Big spending Liverpool spushing to sign Guehi from Palace amid Konate contract stalemate
Liverpool have been unusually active in the transfer market, diverging from their typically cautious approach to spending.
They are now reportedly keen to add Crystal Palace centre-back Marc Guehi to their ranks.
Earlier this week, the Reds completed the record signing of Florian Wirtz for £100 million, with potential add-ons pushing the fee to £116 million. Additionally, a £40 million bid for Bournemouth’s left-back Milos Kerkez has been accepted.
They are now targeting Palace captain Marc Guehi, whose contract has just 12 months remaining. The Reds have failed to extend Ibrahima Konate's contract and are now preparing for the possibility of losing the French defender.
While Crystal Palace are seeking £40-45 million, his contract situation could lower the fee.
With Kerkez, Frimpong, Wirtz, and Guehi all under 24, Liverpool are clearly investing in a youthful squad for the future.
