Erik ten Hag faces the uphill battle of taking his broken Manchester United side to the Allianz Arena to face the mighty Bayern Munich.

Manchester United have started the season in dreadful fashion and after the chastening defeat to Brighton over the weekend, the Red Devils cannot afford another bad defeat.

Man United must Improve possession game

It is no surprise that the teams who keep the ball more, defend less.

United struggle to keep the ball and maintain a healthy spell of possession which leaves them open to transitions.

Of the big six teams last season, United's average of 54.7 was the second-lowest, and they only saw 42 per cent of the ball against Brighton last weekend.

Against a team like Bayern, Ten Hag must get his men to use the ball wisely, when they have it.

Use players in their strongest positions

Ten Hag adopted something of a diamond shape against Brighton over the weekend, and it is safe to say that was a big failure.

Bruno Fernandes stationed on the right of a midfield three, with Scott McTominay pushing up will only lead to disaster.

Play your best players in their best positions and give your team a chance to excel.

Start Garnacho, Hojlund & Rashford in attack

United have struggled for goals this season and this is a game where they will need to be inventive in attack.

Against Brighton, Rashford was the only real attacking outlet and there was a sense he could have linked better with new signing Rasmus Hojlund.

The addition of the quick, dynamic Garnacho should unsettle the Bayern defence and give Fernandes room to work his magic in behind the trio.
