Barcelona's star forward Raphinha has been ruled out of the clash against Real Madrid.
Barcelona have been hit with a major blow as star forward Raphinha suffered an injury setback, which effectively rules him out of the El Clásico.
The 28-year-old was Barcelona's most decisive player last season with 59 goal contributions, seven of which came in El Clasico. However, Hansi Flick will not be able to count on him for Sunday's clash.
The injury setback
Raphinha has been injured for up to a month now, nursing a hamstring injury. However, there was optimism that he would be fit for El Clásico, with the club sharing on social media that he was back in training.
Reports surfaced on Friday revealing that the Brazil international suffered an injury setback and will effectively miss the game. Barcelona assistant coach Marcus Sorg confirmed Raphinha’s setback today, admitting that they would miss him.
Ferran Torres was also injured and expected to return for El Clásico. Sorg suggested that a player fitness test would be required to determine his availability. “Any team would miss Raphinha. As for Ferran, we are going to decide tomorrow,” he said, per Football Espana.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal will reportedly speak to Lamine Yamal after the El Clásico, following the recent controversial comments the teenager made about Los Blancos.
