Arsenal suffer first Champions League defeat as Inter Milan ends Gunners unbeaten streak
The Gunners were looking to get their confidence back after their loss to Newcastle in the Premier League at the weekend.
However, Arsenal failed to make their dominance count as they suffered a 1-0 defeat to Inter Milan.
As it happened
Matteo Darmian started for Inter, but fellow former Manchester United man Henrikh Mkhitaryan is among the substitutes.
Martin Odegaard made his return from injury tonight and started on the bench after being out for four weeks.
Inter Milan started the game brightly and hit the woodwork in the first five minutes of the game.
Arsenal later gained control of the possession but did not create anything. However, it was not until the first half injury time before the home side took the lead.
Inter got a freekick in the Arsenal half and the ball was launched into the box with Piotr Zielinski flicking the ball off Mikel Merino's arm and the referee did not hesitate to point his hand to the penalty spot.
David Raya flew the wrong way and Hakan Calhanoglu slammed the ball down the middle to give Inter the lead.
Arsenal continued their dominant first half performance but were deprived of any opportunity to get back into the game.
The game ended in a 1-0 defeat, ending Arsenal’s unbeaten streak and the Gunners conceding their first goal in the competition.
