Arsenal have completed the signing of Italian midfielder Jorginho from Chelsea
Jorginho joins Arsenal for £12m
The 31-year-old joins the gunners on a one-and-a-half-year deal with an option to extend for a further year.
The deal is expected to cost Arsenal in the region of £12 million after they agreed a fee with Chelsea on deadline day of the January transfer window.
The midfielder joins Arsenal on the request of Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta who is believed to be a huge fan of the Italian and sanctioned the deal for him to join as cover for any potential injuries the squad might face.
Jorginho joins Arsenal after trophy-laden Chelsea stint
Jorginho joined Chelsea in 2018, narrowly missing an opportunity to team up with his new manager Arteta, who was Assistant manager at Manchester City at the time.
Jorginho went on to win the Europa League in his first season with the Blues and won the UEFA Champions League in his second season.
He was also named in the team of the tournament for both competitions.
Before leaving Chelsea, Jorginho also won the UEFA Super Cup as well as the Club World Cup and was also named UEFA Men’s player of the year in 2021
