Ancelotti was asked about the possibility of Real Madrid failing to win any of the three major trophies they compete for every season, the Champions League, Copa del Rey, and LaLiga.

Carlo Ancelotti has said that he is convinced Real Madrid will add to their Club World Cup trophy this season, despite suffering deficits in LaLiga and the Copa del Rey.

Real Madrid are nine points behind Barcelona in LaLiga and have lost the first-leg of their Copa del Rey against the same team, but Ancelotti believes his team will win trophies this season.

What Ancelotti said

Ancelotti was asked about the possibility of Real Madrid failing to win any of the three major trophies they compete for every season: the Champions League, Copa del Rey, and LaLiga.

Carlo said he is convinced his team will win more trophies this season. He said that he does not worry about the LaLiga title race and that they are only worried about winning tomorrow.

He said although they are not favourites to win LaLiga and the Copa del Rey, they are one of the favourites to win the Champions League, and they will try to cut Barcelona's lead at the top LaLiga when they face off tomorrow.

"I am convinced that we are going to win something,” Carlo said, per Relevo.

“The data says that we have a disadvantage in the Cup and in LaLiga, but not in the Champions League. I don't know what can happen. We hope to be able to cut the disadvantage in LaLiga tomorrow."

Real Madrid face challenging Champions League route

As analysed in detail here, Real Madrid face a difficult route towards defending their Champions League title.

They face a Chelsea side who they have a poor recent record against, and if they manage to scale through, they will go against the winner between Bayern Munich and Manchester City for a place in the Champions League final.
