Alisha Lehmann, who hopped off the Aston Villa bus to give a wheelchair-bound large fan a hug, has been praised for her heartwarming gesture.

The 24-year-old forward was in action with her team on Sunday when they went to West Ham, her old club, to play in the Women's Super League.

Aston Villa secured a 3-2 win over West Ham, thanks to a goal from Rachel Daly in injury time at the Chigwell Construction Stadium.

Lehmann is renowned for always looking her best both on and off the pitch and was brought in as a substitute to help her team win the game.

One of Lehmann’s fans who was eager to meet her when she showed up for action yesterday waited for the Villa team bus to arrive.

According to reports from the Sun, shortly after the arrival of the bus, Alisha Lehmann was seen jumping off the team bus to greet a fan.

When Lehmann saw the fan, she went straight over to cuddle with them before packing her things and making her way to the changing areas.

The fan uploaded the video to social media, captioning it with “When my favourite player comes off the coach and comes straight over to me.”

Lehmann has scored 10 goals for Villa in her two years since joining the team and she has also gathered a sizable following thanks to her performances on the field.

Meanwhile, Alisha received trolling after it was said that she was wearing makeup after her nation lost 7-1 to Spain.

Among those who rushed to Lehmann's defence was TV host Vicki Blomme, who likened Lehmann's use of makeup on the pitch to David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo worrying about their hair.
