Super Falcons captain Rasheedat Ajibade scores a powerful brace to lead Nigeria to a 2-0 win over Cameroon in a WAFCON warm-up friendly, thanking fans for their support.

Nigeria’s Super Falcons captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, was the star of the show as she led her team to a commanding 2-0 victory over Cameroon in a warm-up friendly ahead of the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco.

Ajibade’s brace in the first half settled the Peninsula derby at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, reaffirming her status as one of the continent’s top forwards and signalling her excellent form ahead of the tournament.

The Super Falcons controlled most of the game despite heavy rain and a slippery pitch in the beautiful MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta.

Ajibade opened the scoring from the penalty spot after being fouled in the box, converting confidently to give Nigeria the lead.

Cameroon struggled to mount any serious threat throughout the match, with Nigerian goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie largely untroubled.

In the second half, coach Justin Madugu made several substitutions, bringing on experienced players like Francisca Ordega and Christy Ucheibe to maintain control, with Olamide Bolaji and Emem Essien getting their debuts.

Ajibade’s Message to Nigerians

After the match, Ajibade expressed her gratitude to Nigerians for their unwavering support.

“It’s such an honour and privilege to have scored two goals in today’s match, but I would not have done it without the support of my teammates and special thanks to all the fans who came out to cheer us up,” she said in the post-match press conference.
