Nigeria head coach, Eric Chelle, has admitted that he faces a welcome selection dilemma after the performance of his rotated squad against Uganda.

The Super Eagles of Nigeria defeated Uganda 3-1 on Tuesday, with a spot in the round of sixteen already secured following a win against Tunisia.

The Franco-Malian manager took the opportunity to rest several key players, with Francis Uzoho, Ryan Alebiosu, Igoh Ogbu, Raphael Onyedika, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru, Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon, and Paul Onuachu all handed starts and impressed.

Paul Onuachu set the tone by opening the scoring for the three-time AFCON champions. Raphael Onyedika then stole the show, netting a brace and earning the Man of the Match award for his dominant performance.

Chelle praises impressive performers

The coach was particularly pleased with the display from Club Brugge midfielder Onyedika, who impressed both on the pitch and with fans watching at home. "I'm happy for him," Chelle said.

Blackburn Rovers' Ryan Alebiosu also made his debut for the Super Eagles, and Chelle was satisfied with the defender's contribution. "It wasn't bad at all. He did well; he had a very good state of mind," the coach commented.

Reflecting on the overall team performance, the former Mali coach acknowledged that the strong showing from his fringe players has given him a "really bad headache" ahead of the knockout stages.

"I'm happy with the performance of a lot of players in this team, the whole group. So now they're giving me a really bad headache because I have to make choices; I have a lot of choices to make."

"They proved to everyone that this is not a team of eleven players, that it is a group. So, that's fine," Chelle added. "The training sessions are going to be with a lot of intensity, and now it's up to me to make the right choices."
