Akor Adams is the latest Nigerian to make a case for a quick return to Jose Peseiro's Super Eagles after AFCON 2023.

Nigerian striker Akor Adams sent a clear message to Super Eagles manager Jose Peseiro after netting a decisive brace for Ligue 1 side Montpellier on Wednesday night.

Adams came off the bench to steal the show as Montpellier thrashed Feignies Aulnoye 4-0 to reach the round of 16 in the French Cup.

The 23-year-old striker was left out of Nigeria's squad for the ongoing Africa Cup of Nations in Cote d’Ivoire. However, he showed Peseiro exactly what he could offer by contributing two goals and an assist for Montpellier.

With his club leading 1-0 thanks to Becir Omeragic’s 58th-minute striker, Adams doubled the advantage two minutes after he replaced Arnaud Nordin.

He turned provider in the 90th minute when he set up Sacha Delaye to extend the lead to 3-0 before he wrapped up the show with his second of the game and a fourth for Montpellier.

With the Super Eagles set to resume World Cup qualifying in March, Adams is hoping to be in Peseiro's plans going forward with a standout display full of intelligent movement, link-up play and ruthless finishing.

Adams also returned among the goals as the strikes ended a run of 10 matches without a goal for the talented star.
