After Real Madrid enjoyed a comfortable evening in the Champions League against Chelsea, Vinicius Junior was pleased.

The Brazilian has described the performance against the Blues as one of the best of the season in the Champions League.

Vinicius made the comments after Real defeated Chelsea 2-0 in the Champions League quarterfinal first leg on Wednesday night.

In a one-sided encounter inside the Santiago Bernabeu,  Los Blancos scored a goal in either half with Karim Benzema and Marco Asensio the scorers.

Vinicius revels in Madrid’s win

The 22-year-old did not score a goal on the night but was one of the stars of the evening after a man-of-the-match display against Chelsea.

He tormented and tortured the Chelsea defenders who struggled to contain the Samba boy as he completed seven take-ons, created four chances, and assisted both goals.

Vinicius also attempted three shots with 100% accuracy and described the performance as one of the best from his team this season after the game.

“We played very well indeed, pressing all the time just like we did at this stage last season,” he told UEFA.com.

“This was one of our best performances this season. But this is only half-time. There is a lot left in this tie. We just need to keep calm heads.”

Hunger for more

Despite the win against Chelsea, the youngster is not getting ahead of himself and believes the game isn’t done.

According to him, the second leg will be difficult, but he quickly adds that the Champions League is special to Los Blancos and they are hungry to win it again.

“We know that an away game against Chelsea can be difficult,” he added.  “Now, we must rest a bit and keep clear heads.”

“Any player who wears this shift for Madrid knows how special the Champions League is. If you play for Madrid, you have to be driven by hunger to play in and win the Champions League.”

Last season, both Chelsea and Real faced each other at this stage of the competition with the Spanish edging the Blues.

Los Blancos lost the second time at the Bernabeu 3-2 but progressed to the next round thanks to a 3-1 win at Stamford Bridge in the first leg.

Carlo Ancelotti and his team will be looking for a repeat of that performance after taking the lead in the first leg again.
