Chelsea academy graduate Tammy Abraham refuses to deny reports linking him to Stamford Bridge return

AS Roma’s English forward Tammy Abraham has stoked the fires of a return to English football after his coy response over the chances of him returning to his former stomping ground.

Abraham left Chelsea for Roma despite early relative success

Abraham graduated from Chelsea’s famed Cobham academy and made his way to the Blues' first team following loan spells at Bristol, Swansea, and Aston Villa.

The forward spent two years with Chelsea's first team and received mixed reviews of his time with the club's senior team.

While some felt that Abraham was out of his depth at Chelsea due to strings of poor performances littered across his two seasons, the forward was still regularly among Chelsea’s top scorers and finished as the Blues' joint-top scorer in the 2020/21 season when they were crowned European Champions even though he only found the back of the net 12 times.

He left the comfort of home for Roma in the 2021/22 season after Chelsea made plans to replace him with mega-signing Romelu Lukaku.

At Roma, Abraham once again showed his talents, scoring 17 goals in 37 Serie A appearances in his first season.

Abraham’s coy over future after Roma form attracts Premier League suitors

He scored a total of 27 goals in the 2021/22 season, helping Roma win the first major European title in the club’s history and its first continental trophy since 1961.

Abraham’s stock has risen since his move to Roma, and even with an underwhelming second season at the club, he is still on the radar of a host of Premier League clubs, including former club Chelsea.

The Roma forward has done little to dispel speculation linking him away from Italy and in a recent interview, he was coy when asked about his future, saying that although his immediate focus is on Roma, a future move could not be ruled out.

When asked by FourFourTwo about the possibility of re-joining Chelsea, he said, “Never say never in football.

“Right now, my focus is on Roma I have no other plans. Maybe I’ll stay at Roma for the next ten years, maybe not. You never know”

Abraham still has a Chelsea-specific release clause in his Roma contract, indicating a willingness to return to the club, but with other Premier League clubs also snooping around, he might be inclined to join one of them is Chelsea stall on returning for their academy graduate.
