Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has explained why the Reds suffered a 2-0 defeat to city rivals Everton at Goodison Park on Wednesday night.

Liverpool suffered a tremendous blow to their title chances after a 2-0 defeat to Everton put them 3 points behind leaders Arsenal, and one ahead of Manchester City who have two games in hand.

For the first time in 14 years and the first time against Klopp, Everton were triumphant against their local rivals at Goodison Park.

The win, courtesy of Jarrad Branthwaite's and Dominic Calvert-Lewin's goals, almost certainly gave the Toffees a prolonged Premier League stay.

“I’m very disappointed. We let it happen exactly the game that Everton wanted. Two goals from set pieces. They are really strong.

“We created a lot and didn’t score. We were in a rush, not clear enough. They scored the second goal with the routine they do all season.

"They had free kick after free kick, but we weren’t good enough.”
