Nigeria's Flying Eagles will head to the 2023 FIFA U-20 World Cup without the possibility of coming up against its nemesis Portugal, and Argentina.

Following the completion of the qualification process of the tournament across 6 confederations, 24 teams will between May 20 to June 11, vie for the U-20 World title in Indonesia.

Notably missing from the tournament would be defending champions Ukraine, and the duo of former youth champions Portugal and Argentina. Both teams prevented Nigeria from winning the U-20 World Cup in 1989, and 2005 respectively.

Flying Eagles in Pot 3 ahead of official draw

For the draw, which will take place at the Taman Werdhi Budaya Art Center in Denpasar, Bali, all the teams will be placed in one of four pots, with Nigeria already assigned to Pot 3.

African champions Senegal remain in Pot 1 with Italy, the United States, and France, while The Gambia and Tunisia are given residences in Pot 4.

The teams will be divided into six groups of four teams each. The top two teams from each group as well as the four best third-place teams in each group advance to the Round of 16.
