Ferland Mendy has returned to the Real Madrid matchday squad for the first time since January.

Real Madrid have named the players who will be eligible to play against Liverpool, and long-time absentee Ferland Mendy was a conspicuous addition.

The 27-year-old left-back has been out of action since January and has missed 12 games for Los Blancos. He is set for a return to action as he is named in the squad to face Liverpool.

Real Madrid have released their squad list to face Liverpool, and the 24-man list included Ferland Mendy, who last played in January against Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey.

Mendy had a muscle injury and has been out of action for about 42 days, according to Transfermarkt, missing 12 games.

His return provides a huge boost for Real Madrid in the left-back position as they continue to miss David Alaba, who got injured in the first leg against Liverpool and was replaced by Nacho.

Liverpool's biggest threat comes from the right flank with Mohammed Salah and Trent Alexander Arnold, and although Real Madrid have a huge advantage in the tie, the return of defensively astute Mendy could ensure they do not lose their comfortable lead.
