The Super Falcons striker was born on October 9, 1994. She originates from and was born in Ikorodu, Lagos State, Nigeria.

The striker whose height stands at 1.73 m (5 ft 8 in) was born into a Muslim family and revealed that her parents were originally not into the idea of her engaging in sports.

According to her, she was always into sports, an athlete at first before switching to playing football with boys in her class.

For her primary education, Oshoala attended Air Force Primary School, Victoria Island, Lagos. After that, she proceeded to Aunty Ayo International School, Ikoyi for her secondary education.

Between 2009 and 2013, Oshoala played for Lagos-based women's club FC Robo. Later in 2013, she moved to Port Harcourt to join Nigerian giants Rivers Angels.

At Rivers United, she won her first professional trophy: the Nigeria Women's Cup in 2013, and then the double of the Women's League and Cup in 2014.

In January 2015, Oshoala moved to England to join the Women's Super League side, Liverpool, with the club's manager, Matt Beard, describing her as "one of the best young players in the world."
