Rasheedat Ajibade ends 5 games drought

Super Falcons forward Rasheedat Ajibade has ended her five-game drought stint for her Spanish Liga F side, Atletico Madrid, after scoring a brace against Real Sociedad.

Her team defeated Real Sociedad 2-1, with both goals coming from Ajibade.

The former Nigeria women's football league (NWFL) player scored her last goal for her club against the same opponent.

Ajibde played for 93 minutes before being replaced by Lucia Moral after scoring her sixth league goal in 19 games.

Ajibade said that her team needs to keep the focus on the winning mentality as her team won three games in a row.

With her two goals, she gave the team victory and wanted to give value to the three points achieved in Zubieta.

She said, "It was a good game, the most important thing was to win.

"It's great to get this run of three wins, but we have to aim for more. There are good feelings for the next game, but we have to keep focused, working hard on aspects that need to be improved.

"Thank God. I am very happy to be able to help the team, but I must say that without the help of my teammates, I could not have made it; it's been a collective effort. Thank you, girls, for helping each other bring out the best in each other."

With 39 points after 20 games, Atletico Madrid is in fourth place in the league, eight points behind Levante for the last UEFA Women's Champions League spot.

Athletico Madrid feminine will face Granada in the Copa de la Reina on March 8 before a league clash with city rivals Real Madrid on March 12.
