A Paris court has opened an investigation into the PSG president's involvement amid accusations of kidnapping and torture in Qatar.

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is currency under investigation over allegations of kidnap and torture.

Reports in France on Tuesday, revealed the Qatari boss is being probed following the appointment of three investigating judges in Paris.

The investigation relates to the alleged kidnapping and torture of Franco-Algerian lobbyist Tayeb Benabderrahmane, who accuses the Paris St Germain president of kidnapping him in Qatar in 2020, L'equipe reports.

Al-Khelaifi has denied all allegations against him, and vowed that "justice will run its course" and adding that he ‘doesn’t have time to talk about petty professional criminals.’

Benabderrahmane, claims he possessed documents with compromising information on Al-Khelaïfi.

The report adds that the 42-year-old lobbyist had filed a complaint with a civil party, a procedure that almost systematically obtains a judicial investigation, for torture and kidnapping, and a judicial investigation was opened at the end of January, according a judicial source.

"We are very happy that the real case of this story is finally the subject of an investigation by the French justice," Benabderrahmane's lawyers, Romain Ruiz and Gabriel Vejnar, told AFP, via the report.

Benabderrahmane claims to have been imprisoned in Qatar in 2020 for six months and tortured, then placed under house arrest and finally allowed to leave in November of the same year, after signing a confidentiality protocol in which he undertook not to disclose "sensitive" documents on Nasser al-Khelaïfi.

It is also alleged the case was linked to sensitive documents regarding the awarding of the 2022 World Cup to Qatar, as well as the awarding of television rights for the 2026 and 2030 World Cup to BeIN Media - of which Al-Khelaifi is chairman.

L’equipe adds that this could be information contained in a phone that belonged to him.

Al-Khelaïfi's lawyers did not wish to comment, recalling that they were subject to professional secrecy, after their client has repeatedly denied all allegations.

The 49-year-old Qatari boss was previously investigated over the World Cup bid over his relationship with former FIFA member Jerome Vackle.

However, he was acquitted, but could now suffer a fresh back after the latest reports emerging from France.

This is also the second scandal PSG would have to deal with this week, blow amid accusations linking Morroco international and right-back Achraf Hakimi with allegations of rape on Monday.
