Report: Atletico Madrid sign Doherty from Tottenham
Atletico Madrid have reportedly signed Matt Doherty on loan from Tottenham for the remainder of the season.
The 31-year-old shone with Wolves, earning himself a move to Tottenham. However, the move has not worked out for the Irishman, as injuries among other factors have seen his game time limited. He is now set to join LaLiga side Atletico Madrid on a six-month loan.

The wing-back would fly to Spain to join Diego Simeone’s side, who already have Argentine World Cup winner Nahuel Molina in the position; however, with the unreplaced loss of left-back Renan Lodi to Nottingham Forest in the summer, the versatile wide-defender would be sufficient cover.
Doherty would become the second wing-back leaving the Tottenham Hotspur stadium this window, following the exit of Djed Spence to Rennes.
The North London club are set to complete a deal for Sporting Lisbon’s Pedro Porro, and the exits of Spence and Doherty open up space in the position.
Doherty is set to become the second Tottenham-owned defender on loan at Atletico Madrid, with Sergio Reguilon making a similar move in the summer.
The former Wolves wing-back would become the second signing for Pablo Simeone’s side this window, after the acquisition of Memphis Depay from rivals Barcelona.
