Nigeria wins NCF Women’s Invitational tournament

The President of the Nigeria Cricket Federation ( NCF) Uyi Akpata has revealed that the Fcailities for cricket in the country has been improved.

Akpata disclosed this to Pulse Sports at the just-concluded women's T20i Invitational Tournament in Lagos.

The one week tournament was held at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) Cricket Oval.

The Yellow Female Greens defeated the defending champions Rwanda by 9 runs to win the tournament.

Akpata commended the tournament's contribution to national facility improvement.

“We have better facilities now, we now have seven turf crickets from zero about four years ago.

"One of our key objecives for cricket is infrastructral development ,we have built pavilon around from zero we are now in seven and by God's grace we will be launching in Kaduna, two in Benin and two in Lagos.

"It is not about building new cricket tourf but also enhancing the quality of the wickets."

Nigeria won three out of four games

Nigeria won three out of four games in the competition, they defeated Sierra Leone in the first game and won the second against Cameroun and Ghana.

The only defeat in the competition was the last game against Rwanda on Saturday before beating the same team on Sunday to emerge champions.

This year’s edition featured Ghana, Cameroon, Sierra Leone, Rwanda, and host Nigeria.
