The Yellow Female Greens won the toss and opted to bat, winning by 9 runs.

Nigeria has won the Nigeria Cricket Federation (NCF) Women’s Invitational tournament in Lagos.

Nigeria defeated the defending champions, Rwanda, on Sunday at the Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) Cricket Oval.

The Yellow Female Greens won the toss and opted to bat, winning by 9 runs.

Nigeria won three out of four games

Nigeria won three out of four games in the competition, they defeated Sierra Leone in the first game and won the second against Cameroun and Ghana.

The only defeat in the competition was the last game against Rwanda on Saturday before beating the same team on Sunday to emerge champions.

The captain of the Nigerian team, Blessing Etim, said, “The win means a lot to us because we have put up a great deal of effort and teamwork to ensure that we go unbeaten throughout this tournament."

Sunday Salome won the Player of the Match award after her impressive performance in the game; she had 48 runs.

Sierra Leone overcame Cameroon's debutants by nine wickets to place third in the competition. The Women Patriots chased down the total with 85 runs for the cost of one wicket in 13.2 overs after Cameroon produced 84 runs all out in 17.2 overs.

Pulse Sports reports that the NCF signed contracts with top male and female national team players on the margins.

Eight players are on this first phase of the contract, while the second phase will bring 14 additional players by July 1.

The contracts will be renewed after one year for all of the players.
