Philadelphia 76ers head coach Doc Rivers Joel Embiid's knee injury is more serious than a Grade 1 LCL sprain and he could miss Game 1 against the Boston Celtics.

Doc Rivers revealed Joel Embiid did not practice on Saturday and will likely remain doubtful for “at least Game 1.”

Embiid has been able to do some individual training and shooting and will be evaluated on a day-to-day basis.

Embiid, an MVP finalist, missed the final game of the Sixers’ first-round sweep of the Nets with what the team described as a right knee sprain.

Although, not at his best, Embiid averaged 20 points, 11.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists, and 2.3 blocks per game in the first three games of the series.

During the regular season, Embiid posted averages of 33.1 points, 10.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists per game.

The Sixers are 12-5 without Embiid this season, including the closeout Game 4 win over the Brooklyn Nets.
