Luka Dončić scores 39 Points as Slovenia continues search for 1st EuroBasket win
The Slovenian national basketball team lost to France 103-95 at EuroBasket, suffering their second defeat of the European Championship.
Slovenia's best player and Lakers star Luka Dončić scored an incredible 39 points and made some unbelievable plays. Unfortunately, it wasn't enough for his national team to secure a victory.
In addition to Slovenia and France, you can follow the other EuroBasket matches on August 30th via Sportal's live blog.
The Slovenian national team isn't playing at EuroBasket with the same form we're used to seeing.
First came a loss to Serbia in a friendly match in Belgrade, followed by defeats to Poland and now France in the European Championship.
Dončić's 39 Not Enough to Overcome France
Luka Dončić has been phenomenal in every game. Against France, he posted 39 points, eight rebounds, and nine assists.
He also hit 19 of 20 free throws. Edo Murić with 16 points and Klemen Prepelič with 15 were the only other Slovenians in double figures.

On the other side, for a depleted French team, Sylvain Francisco led the way with 32 points, followed by Elie Okobo with 14, Ismaël Kamagate with 13, and both Zaccharie Risacher and Alexandre Sarr adding 12 points each.
Slovenia started the game strong, scoring 30 points in the first quarter, hitting their shots, promising a tight contest down to the wire. They held a 54-47 lead at halftime.
However, the second half brought a significant drop in Slovenia's performance, which France capitalised on to build a lead.
The third quarter ended 21-16 in favor of the French. It was then that Francisco took the initiative, becoming the absolute scoring leader for Les Bleus.
France showed complete dominance in the final quarter, scoring 35 points as the Slovenians couldn't find an answer, though one particular move by Luka Dončić wowed the basketball world.
The victim of Dončić's masterclass was Moustapha Fall. With the ball in his hands, Dončić started to dribble and faked him out so effectively that the French center fell to the floor.
After putting him on the ground, he passed to Gregor Hrovat, who then dished it to Alen Omić, before Murić finished the play with a score.
Slovenia's next EuroBasket game is against Belgium on August 31st. Currently, in Group D, Slovenia sits in fifth place with just two points.
Only Iceland is below them, with the same record. France is comfortably in first place with two wins.
