Bam Adebayo led the Heat for most of the game with 20 points and 12 rebounds, but it wasn't enough to offset Jimmy Butler's early troubles.
The Heat, an eight-seed that shocked the NBA by reaching this point, lost in the NBA Finals for the second time in the previous four seasons.
Before the 1976–1977 season, the Nuggets, who had spent nine seasons playing in the American Basketball Association since 1967, switched to the NBA.

In front of a boisterous home crowd, the Denver Nuggets managed to fend off the tenacious Miami Heat, giving the organization its first championship.
Thanks to Nikola Jokic who was crowned Finals MVP, the Nuggets were able to overcome a bad shooting night in a physical and sometimes sloppy back-and-forth contest.
The best news for Nuggets supporters is that their team are young and will continue to improve.
It's celebration time in Denver, as their key players are all under contract and young.
