D'Tigers: Houston Rockets star leads 12-man list for AfroBasket
Nigeria's men's national basketball team, the D'Tigers, have unveiled their final 12-man roster for the 2025 FIBA AfroBasket Championship.
Nigeria are one of the favorites for the tournament set to take place from August 13 to 31 in Angola.
Josh Okogie leads D'Tigers 12-man list
Houston Rockets guard Josh Okogie is set to lead the team as the only NBA player on the roster.
The guard has NBA experience and just signed a one-year, $3.1 million deal with the Rockets.
Okogie joins fellow NBA-experienced players and a leadership core led by team captains Ike Nwamu and Stan Okoye.
This selection comes after the D'Tigress' AfroBasket where they defeated Mali 78-64 in the final.
Each player earned a $100,000 cash reward, OON national honor and a three-bedroom flat.
The D'Tigers' preparation included two friendly games against Guinea.
They won one and lost one, resulting in a 78-73 victory and followed by a 68-65 loss on Friday.
Interim head coach Mohammed Abdulrahman and his staff, including assistants Deji Akindele and Ikenna Smart are set for the challenge.
The team will now head to Angola ahead of their Group B campaign, where they will face Madagascar, Tunisia, and Cameroon.
