Philadelphia 76ers centre, Joel Embiid is averaging 33.1 points per game and is set to win back-to-back NBA scoring titles.

Joel Embiid having historical season

Joel Embiid is set to become the first centre since Bob McAdoo to win consecutive scoring titles and he could soon add the regular season MVP award to the list of honours, on the back of an impressive season for the Philadephia 76ers.

76ers superstar Joel Embiid

Embiid is head and shoulders above the chasing pack, besides Dallas Mavericks star guard, Luka Doncic who gave him a close chase throughout the season. Doncic is averaging 32.7 points per game with one game remaining to play.

However, the Mavs coaching staff made the collective, perhaps, smart decision to play Doncic for only the first quarter in their loss to the Chicago Bulls.

Doncic scored only 13 points in 10 minutes before exiting the game. The result meant the Mavs are officially done for the season and Doncic will now have no chance of catching Embiid at the top.

Embiid could add MVP to scoring title

Embiid has played at an elite level throughout the course of the season and most importantly, down the home stretch.

Over the last 10 games, He is averaging 30.5 points, including 46-point and 52-point monster performances against the Golden State Warriors and Boston Celtics.

Along with a career-high in points per game (33.1), Embiid is averaging 10.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists, shooting 54 percent from the field and 33 percent from three-point range.

He is currently in a three-way race for the MVP along with Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets and Giannis Antetokounmpo of the Milwaukee Bucks.
